A new town park has been proposed for the Capdoo area of Clane.
Planning permission documents lodged with Kildare County Council (KCC) show that Westar Investments Ltd intends to construct the park on the Celbridge Road (R403) at Capdoo in Clane.
Specifically, the appicant is seeking permission from KCC for: a town park along with a new vehicular access off the R403 via a new roundabout junction, provision of a new traffic calming gateway along the R403 and a new three-metre public footpath/cycle lane and lighting along the R403 to connect into the existing public footpath network in the town.
According to the company's application, the park would consist of: footpaths/cycle lanes, soft and hard landscaping, including new woodland planting and grass amphitheater, three constructed wetlands (including viewing platforms), car and cycle parking, with new access road to same and pedestrian bridge access to the park.
In addition, planning permission for all associated site works, including relocation of spoil material from the creation of the constructed wetlands onto agricultural lands, is being sought by Westar Investments Ltd.
The date received on the application is listed as December 1 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as December 13 and February 2, 2024, respectively.
Westar Investments Ltd was founded in 1988, according to the business information website SoloCheck.ie.
It specialises in the 'development and selling of real estate' and may also trade as Westar Group Investments.
The company has an address listed as C/O Dodd and Company, Solicitors, Dmg Business Centre, Camden Row, Dublin 8, County Dublin.
Earlier this year, Westar Investments Ltd applied to KCC for planning permission in relation to a separate construction project in Clane, which would involve a mix of houses, apartments and maisonettes.
