A new development of houses and apartments is being planned for Clane.

Kildare County Council has received a request for permission to construct a mix of houses, apartments and maisonettes - 51 in all.

The project is earmarked for Capdoo and Abbeylands.

The application has been made by Westar Investments, which is associated with the Fallon family which has been responsible for residential development in Clane as well as in Naas.

The development includes 35 houses of various sizes with some built as a terrace.

Documents lodged with KCC indicate that private amenity space will be provided in the form of rear private gardens with the maisonette units being served by designated areas of private amenity space to the rear at ground floor level and the proposed apartment units being served by private balconies/terraces.

A creche is also proposed at ground floor level of the proposed apartment block with an associated outdoor space.

There will also be 126 car parking spaces - 70 serving the houses, 16 serving the maisonettes, 26 for the creche and 14 for the apartments.

There will also be eight sheltered bicycle parking stores to serve the proposed maisonette units with four visitor bicycle parking spaces along with a bicycle parking store comprising 32 spaces.

The application does not include an access between the proposed linear/neighbourhood park  and Alexandra Park and “this will be addressed as part of a subsequent application.”

A decision is due to be made by August 23 and submissions from the public must be with KCC by August 2.
