SETU welcomes Kildare students to its Autumn Open Day in Carlow

South East Technological University (SETU) will host its annual Autumn Open Day at its Kilkenny Road Campus in Carlow on Thursday, 26 October from 10am to 2pm. The event is one of multiple cross-campus Open Days that give prospective students a chance to experience SETU’s state-of-the-art facilities and range of undergraduate courses, while highlighting the best of student life at the university. 

This year’s event at the Carlow campus includes showcases what’s on offer across engineering – mechanical, electrical, agricultural and aerospace - business, computing, software development, science, humanities, and sport. Visitors can chat one-to-one with our expert lecturers and avail of campus tours from some of our staff who will share first-hand experience of life at SETU.

Visitors will have the opportunity to tour SETU’s Carlow campus, alongside experiencing its world-class sporting facilities. Representatives from the university’s range of clubs and societies will be on hand to tell you about the exciting extra-curricular options for students. This will be a lively Open Day event that will give prospective students insight into the value of choosing SETU for third level studies. 

Commenting on the event, President of SETU, Professor Veronica Campbell, said, “I am thrilled to invite prospective students from around the region to visit our campus here in Carlow. This is the first of our series of Autumn-Winter Open Day events across our campuses in Carlow, Waterford, and Wexford and it is a thrill to host everyone and get to hear about their hopes for an exciting future in higher education. I hope many will choose to embark on their studies with us at SETU. Many thanks to all our staff and current students who have made this event possible.”

Members of SETU’s Student Services team will also be in attendance on the day with plenty of information on student supports, such as disability and financial supports, as well as information on areas of student life such as accommodation and admissions.

The 2023/24 academic year brings with its some excellent new courses at SETU’s Carlow campus. This includes the Bachelor of Arts Content Creation and Social Media and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Games Development, two cutting-edge courses catering to an ever-evolving technology-focused world. The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Agricultural Systems Engineering is another of SETU’s expert-led courses in the engineering filed that supports the agri-food sector. Also available is SETU’s expanded Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sports Coaching and Business Management, with specialties in Gaelic, Football, and Rugby.
