PHOTOS: Green light for €2m sports complex in Kildare

Planning approval has been granted for a €2 million redevelopment of Kill GAA Club’s facilities including a Viewing Stand, at Greenhills, Kill, Co. Kildare.

The 10-year permission allows for major upgrades across the grounds, including improvements to the existing access road and pedestrian paths leading from the clubhouse to Newtown Way, along with the provision of extra parking spaces along this route.

A two-storey building will be constructed between the skills wall and the playground. The ground floor, covering 200 sq.m, will house a gym, while the 119 sq.m mezzanine level will be used for activities complementary to the gym. The existing skills wall area will also be extended with new surfacing, lighting, fencing and roof netting.

A new synthetic all-weather pitch, measuring 95m by 56m, will be built on the site of the current training pitch nearest the clubhouse. Pitches 1 and 2 will be realigned and upgraded with floodlighting, spectator fencing and ball stop netting, and a new Viewing Stand will be erected between them.

Plans also include a new dressing room block with public toilets and a first-floor meeting room, located beside the viewing stand. The project will modernise Pitch 3 with new drainage, surfacing, fencing, lighting and a walking path.

Additional walking routes will be developed around the grounds as part of the scheme, aimed at making the facilities more accessible for all members of the community.
