Sallins
Kildare County Council has defended its ongoing work at the public playground in Sallins.
Cllr Carmel Kelly said there are some maintenance issues there and asked KCC to confirm that the facility “is scheduled for a maintenance check.”
In a report, KCC official Simon Wallace said that the playground “receives maintenance visits every Saturday and Monday and an annual independent safety inspection is carried out along with quarterly inspections.
In addition, he added, during the last year the tiger mulch at the wheelchair carousel, and slide runout has been replaced and the carousel bearings were lubricated last autumn. A seesaw was removed after bearing damage and a replacement bearing is on order since the middle of last year.
The meeting also heard that a mini basket swing is due to be replaced in the next few weeks
and the pirouette pole spinner has also “been completely replaced after bearing failure.”
