With Moorefield’s very successful 2017 season finally coming to an end just over four weeks ago and the commencement this Saturday of the Kildare Senior Football League, club action in Kildare is certainly moving up a gear.
Now comes news that the 2018 senior, intermediate and junior football championship draws will take place this Sunday (March 25) at St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge, following The Lilies Allianz Football League clash with old rivals Galway, due to throw-in at 2 pm.
This season’s senior and intermediate football championship take on a new format.
The first round will see 16 teams go into the pot for an open draw.
Following the opening round of games, due on weekends of May 4-6 and 11-13; the clubs will be then go into four groups of 4 (2 winners and 2 losers in each group).
The top team will automatically qualify for the quarter finals; second and third teams will then be drawn with the winners through to the quarters.
The teams that finish bottom of each group will go into relegation semi finals.
