Tributes have been paid to a Kildare “gentleman” who passed away on January 1 2026.
William (Billy) Conway, (Lucan, Co Dublin and Leixlip, Co Kildare) passed suddenly on January 1 last “whilst enjoying his final adventure abroad.”
Billy is the beloved husband of the late Angela, née Gilligan; deeply mourned and sadly missed by his children Emma, Julie, Jeannette, Bryan and Annamarie, sons-in-law Rafael, David and Joseph, adored grandchildren Angela, Javier, Tadhg, Billy, Kaydence and Isabella, his good pal Peg, Frances, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.
Billy will be reposing at Cunningham's Funeral Home, Lucan on Thursday evening (January 15) from 5pm to 8pm.
The removal will take place to St. Mary’s Church, Lucan on Friday morning (January 16), arriving for Requiem Mass at 10am followed by Cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium.
Family flowers only, please. Donations if desired to the Polio Survivors Ireland or Irish Kidney Association.

Tributes paid to Billy on RIP.ie include: “Bryan our sincerest condolences for the passing of your wonderful father Billy. He was always so helpful to us fixing our cars over the many years. He will be sadly missed. May he rest in peace.”
And: “Our condolences to the Conway family on the sad passing of Billy. May Billy Rest in Peace.”
While another mourner wrote: “Hi Julie, sincere condolences to you and all your family on the sad passing of Billy. I only met him when he was in Dubai (but that was a lot to be fair)! I know he was a great father and you spent many great years travelling together. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.”
And another added: “My sincere condolences to the Conway family on the loss of William. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
