A much loved and greatly admired grandfather to his 12 grandchildren, Catriona, Ian, Michael, Darcy, Dylan, Chloe, Lizzy, Vincent, Eoin, Fiadh and Naomi and Ronan and their mother Eleanor.

Dear brother of Elizabeth (Daisy), Gerry and Maura, and of his deceased brothers Patrick and John.

Dear brother-in-law of Michael D’Arcy (deceased), Emily Power, Nora Barron, Jim D’Arcy and Frank D’Arcy.

Michael derived such pleasure from his children, grandchildren, extended family and his many friends from his business, charitable, cultural and sporting interests.

He was especially grateful to his carers during his final months.

Tributes and condolences paid this week included: “My deepest sympathy to Michael’s children, grandchildren, brother and sisters at this sad and difficult time for you all. Michael was a beautiful and kind man. May He Rest In Peace.”

And: “"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Michael Darcy. As an active member of the Ireland Japan Association for many years, he was a valued friend of the association, always bringing warmth and enthusiasm to everything he did. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time. May he rest in peace." Catherine Grennell-Whyte Chairperson of the IJA.”

While another mourner wrote: “My sincere sympathy to Nicola and all the Darcy family. Michael was a wonderfully warm person who will be sadly missed in Woodbrook. He was a great friend of our family and I have fond memories of his conversations, good humour and wise council. May he rest in peace.”

And another added: “To the Darcy family- please accept our condolences on the passing of Mick so soon after Peggy. We understand how proud he was of you all...
“Mick was once Chairman of the Irish Japanese Business Association and at another time Chairman of the Irish Chinese Business Association, a unique double act which is testament to his capabilities and to the esteem in which he was widely held. He was an inspiration, in many respects, to those who were blessed to know him. He is now reunited with his beloved Peggy. Rest in Peace Mick.”

May he Rest in Peace.
