Award winning Kildare male cappella choir issues call out for new members

Harmony Federation, a 30-strong male cappella choir is looking for new members.

Based at their new home at Sallins Parish Community Centre, right in the middle of Sallins village, since last April, this group have added an exciting new element to the community.

"We are looking for new members. We are an award-winning all-Ireland group with members coming to rehearsal, one Sunday a month, from Dublin, Wicklow and as far away as Cork and Sligo. But we have no members from Sallins or indeed Co. Kildare,” said Daragh Grace from Harmony Federation.

“With mental health such a focus these days, our members find that our rehearsals and the shows we are involved in around the country allow for great comradery and build lasting friendships.”

The next all-day rehearsal (11am to 4pm) takes place at Sallins Parish Community Centre (W91 HX06) on Sunday November 8. Harmony Federation is a male ‘a cappella’ group singing in the Barbershop style, founded at the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers (IABS) Convention in 2011, to become Ireland’s National Men’s Barbershop Chorus.

The group also sings with other groups – mixed voice, male voice, musical and societies. The director is the very well known and experienced Rhiannon Owens-Hall. Rhiannon has now been an active barber-shopper for more than 50 years as singer, director, coach and judge. She has directed choruses within IABS, LABBS and BABS winning several gold, silver and bronze medals and two quartet gold medals. She has judged at barbershop competitions in Ireland, Holland, Germany and the USA and judged non-barbershop singing competitions in the UK. She has coached in Europe, South Africa and the USA.

Harmony Federation won an award in the Lower Voices Competition at the 2025 City of Derry International Choir Festival. It also came third in the Light Pop and Jazz competition that year.  For further information, log on to www.harmonyfederation.com
