Dramatic week in Community Games finals

AFTER a hectic week of team finals in the Co Kildare Community Games Programme Kildare’s teams for the Leinster Competition were known. The Kildare Champion will travel to the winners of the Dublin v Wicklow game later in June in the final zone Match for a place in Leinster Semi-Final in Carlow in July.

AFTER a hectic week of team finals in the Co Kildare Community Games Programme Kildare’s teams for the Leinster Competition were known. The Kildare Champion will travel to the winners of the Dublin v Wicklow game later in June in the final zone Match for a place in Leinster Semi-Final in Carlow in July.

Leixlip came through in three Basketball events with wins over St Brigid’s Under 13 Girls and Monastrevin in both girls U16 and mixed U11.

Monastrevin was victorious in Boys U13 against St Brigid’s while St Conleth’s overcame neighbours St Brigid’s in the U16 Final

Maynooth were unfortunate to lose in three exciting finals after extra time. In the U12 Girls Gaelic Final their team score a last minute goal to equalise but Monastrevin came out on top in the extra period. Clane won out in the U14 Camogie and St Brigid’s won the penalty shootout in the U12 Soccer. Maynooth did however secure titles in Under 12 Boys Soccer over KIlcock and a last minute goal gave them victory over Clane in a very exciting U10 Gaelic Final.

St Brigids were crowned Champions in U14 Tag Rugby and U13 Futsol while Athy came out on top in the U11 Mini Rugby event.

The First Weekend of HSE Community Games National Finals take place in Athlone AIT on 25th - 27th May. Kildare will be represented in Individual events Art, Model Making and Handwriting. There will be fantastic entertainment in Talent events and the competition will be stromg.

The CC events have a 1200m team event and relays over distances of 400, 600 m.

Kildare have teams in Handball (Leixlip), Indoor Soccer (Newbridge St Brigid’s), Table Tennis (TwoMileHouse).
