Paddy McKenna points the way for Clane hurlers
Clane retain their senior status as Confey are relegated
A lively opening half with both teams certainly giving it their all.
Clane opened the brightest firing over three points in the opening five minutes from Hugh Muldoon (2) and Neil Vizzard.
Frank Bass got the Confey account up and running with a free on six before we had a very unusual occurrence when Clane full back, Paddy Connolly, out near the corner flag attempted to pass the sliothar back to his keeper Mark Doyle, only to see the ball just go over the bar with the keeper out.
Paddy McKenna and Frank Bass exchanged points before Daniel Colbert hit a mighty point from distance.
Hugh Muldoon, Caolan Smith and another from Muldoon extended the lead to five on 24 minutes.
Confey hit back however before the break with a Frank Bass free, a point from Cathal Jennings and another free from Bass, Paddy McKenna replied with a free to leave the half-time score reading Clane 0-9 Confey 0-6.
On the resumption McKenna fired over a free and while Neil Ryan replied Clane then hit no less than seven points and while Ryan raised another for Confey, there was no denying the Clane side as they tacked on another four point with Frank Bass getting Confey’s last from a free.
