The results of a safety audit which was conducted on a busy County Kildare road have been revealed by Kildare County Council (KCC).
The information was delivered to councillors who were in attendance at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, September 16 last.
The subject was initially raised by Fine Gael Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer, when she submitted the following question to KCC: “Can KCC confirm if all the safety audit measures required have been completed on the Athgarvan Road, Newbridge as requested following the Safety Audit 2? “
In response to her query, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: “A Stage 3 Road Safety Audit was undertaken for the works on the Athgarvan Road.
“The works subject to the audit extended from approximately 30 metre north-west of the Athgarvan Road / Kilbelin Park T-junction to a point north of the access to the Little Harvard Belin Woods Creche.”

“Following completion of the Stage 3 Road Safety Audit, a number of issues were identified, and appropriate remedial measures were undertaken,” KCC added.
