LIVE: Met Éireann urges caution this weekend as weather warning is issued for Kildare

Met Eireann has issued status yellow rain warnings for 14 counties across Ireland

Met Eireann is urging caution over the coming days due to the risk of localised flooding and poor visibility in 14 counties across Ireland, including Kildare.

Status yellow rain warnings impacting five counties will come into effect at 2pm on Friday while the warnings will be extended to nine more counties, including Kildare, from midnight on Saturday (Friday night).

All of the warnings are due to remain in place until midnight on Monday (Sunday night).

The other 13 counties impacted are: Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.

Met Éireann says spells of heavy rain can be expected at times and that possible impacts include localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

In its latest forecast, Met Éireann says Sunday is likely to still be wet and blustery in the east of the country at first, though the rain should clear eastwards through the morning.

"Otherwise it's going to be a cool, breezy day, with sunshine and a scattering of showers. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees and feeling cooler than that with the added wind chill effect from a fresh and gusty northerly wind," states the latest forecast.
