He said the weekend is not looking as bad but it is likely there will be some showers, depends on where low ends up but might stay east of Ireland.
While it is still early days, there are positive signs of a heatwave over the May bank holiday weekend.
This sunny weather will be brought by high pressure returning for the weekend.
Met Éireann has forecast a cloudy start to Tuesday morning with some light patchy drizzle but this will clear away with sunny spells developing by late morning.
It will stay largely dry and sunny into the afternoon and evening with a light northerly breeze and highs of 11 to 16 degrees.
If you want some hope in the longer term, the GFS model is showing a chance of high pressure returning for May Bank Holiday. Very far away so could easily change but good to see a chance for now anyway pic.twitter.com/4Uzmpv1vaR
