Kildare claimed a brilliant draw against Tyrone in Omagh this evening despite playing with 14 men for some 28 minutes, Brendan Gibbons picking up a second yellow.
The Lilies showed commendable spirit refusing to accept defeat and with a brilliant Brian McLoughlin two-pointer just on full time it was Kildare who will go home the happier on a final score linen of Tyrone 2-16 Kildare 1-19.
Tyrone opened impressively and while the sides were level at a point apiece after before Ethan Jordan got the first of his two-pointers in the half, Eoin Cully added his second Ciaran Daly extended the lead to two on eight minutes.
A second two-pointer from Jordan saw Armagh go three clear but four wides on the trot by the home side saw Kildare hit back with Alex Beirne, Brian McLoughlin and Kevin Feely level.
A free from Jordan gave Armagh the lead, Brian McLoughlin leveled in the 34 minute but a Niall Morgan kick-out went straight to Ben Loakman who advanced and while two initial shots were blocked there to boot to the net was Darragh Swords to give Kildare the half-time lead 1-8 to 0-8.
Tyrone came out a lot more physical in the second half a goal from joe Oguz in the 43 minuter saw them take the lead.
The second yellow for Gibbons followed as Tyrone went ahead by two.
Alex Berine two-pointer left one in it; Jordan pushed it to two and when Tyrone went four clear on 56 minutes it looked all over.
Kildare refused to concede, McLoughlin free, a similar from Alex Beirne and another two from McLoughlin drew level,
Tyrone goal from Jordan pushed them three ahead on 65 minutes and looking good.
kildare hit back with a Brian McLoughlin point and then on the whistle it was that man McLoughlin who hit a boomer to level the game.
