After five Kildare footballers and seven hurlers were named on the respective Tailteann Cup and Joe McDonagh Cup team of the year earlier in the week, the icing on the cake arrived at the Champions 15 Award Ceremony on Friday night, at a function held in Croke Park when Cian Boran was announced as the Joe McDonagh Hurler of the year while Alex Beirne took the Tailteann Cup Player of the Year. A fitting award for both players who led by examle in their respective codes.
As already announced the Kildare footballers selected on the Tailteann Cup Team of the Year were Harry O'Neill, James McGrath, Kevin Feely, Darragh Kirwan and Alex Beirne.
The hurlers from Kildare named on the Joe McDonagh Cup Team of the Year included Rian Boran, Simon Leacy, James Burke, Cathal McCabe, David Qualter, Jack Sheridan and Rian Boran.
