Kildare GAA:  Raheens capture U23 'A' title

Raheens were crowned Westgrove Hotel, Clane, U23 'A' Football champions and with it capturing the Jack Higgins Cup, following a seven point win over Celbridge at Manguard Park, this Saturday evening.

Celbrige led at the break by one, 1-3 to 0-5 and looked to be on their way when Killian Browne found the net on 35 minutes.

But Raheens boys showing their well-documented ability to dig out a result hit their opponents with three goals from Evin Gilmartin, Niall Dolan and Gavin Thompson to wrap it up on a final score line of Raheens 3-11 Celbridge 2-7.

Scorers: Raheens, Gavin Thompson 1-3, Niall Dolan 1-2, Evin Gilmartin 1-0, Dara Crowley 0-2, Niall Dolan 0-1, Jack Taaffe 0-1, Daire Gilmartin 0-1, Sean McLoughlin 0-1.

Celbridge, Aaron Browne 1-4 (3 frees), Killian Browne 1-0. Daragh Finnegan 0-1, Ross Maycock 0-1, Peter McAteer 0-1.
