Referee Conor Daly didn't bring umpires to the UPMC Senior Hurling Championship Preliminary Round game between Celbridge and Ardclough.

In these teams' hour of need, Kildare legend Pat Dunney, along with a couple of others, stepped up to the mark.

Dunney was more than willing to sacrifice his view from the stands for the job, but was unwilling to part with his pre-match tea as he waved Ardclough's first wide with cup in hand.

No umpires for a Championship opener is far from ideal, but you can certainly always rely on some.
