Shane O'Sullivan two second half goals for Kildare
The final score line tells the tale, Kildare 5-15 Waterford 0-6 as The Lilies chalked up their second successive win in the Tailteann Cup, this time at Fraher Field, Dungarvin.
In an expremely poor opening half Kildare led by a mere five points 0-8 to 0-3 with a conversion rate just on the 50 per cent mark. However on the resumption, and when Waterford had been reduced to 14 following a black card for midfielder Michael Curry (already on yellow) Kildare took full advantage with five second half goals from Shane O'Sullilvan and one each from Kevin Flynn, Paddy Woodgate and Niall Kelly.
Next up for Kildare is Leitrim in two weeks time at a neutral venuel
Possession-wise Kildare dominated the opening half but Waterford packing their defence the visitors found it difficult to eek out goal chances; just one in the opening half but that effort from Paddy Woodgate went right and wide of the far post.
Darragh Kirwan did carry his fine from the win over Longford into this game and raised four white flags in the opening half but overall it was a most unconvincing opening half from Glenn Ryan's side as they led by a mere five points at the break 0-8 to 0-3; Barry Kelly picking up a black card right on the half-time whistle.
