Sallins picked up some early silverware when defeating Caragh 2-9 to 1-10 in the final of the Keogh Cup played at Manguard Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
Conditions were difficult but credit to both teams for putting on a tight and enjoyable clash.
Sallins went two ahead early on with points from Stephen Kelly and Alan Marshall. Conor Sullivan reduced the lead but Rory Gavin restored the Sallins lead to two.
Caragh, with an excellent move involving Ronan Doorey, Daragh Swords and Eoghan O'Haire, saw O'Haire find the Sallins net. Darragh Swords added a 45, a 20m free and his third from play.
Caragh though were not for lying down and hit back with points from Ferdia Ó Domhnaill, Stephen Kelly was quickest to a lose ball to find the net, Daragh Mangan and James Dalton left the half-time score reading Sallins 1-6 Caragh 1-4.
Caragh, throuogh Eohan O'Haire reduced the lead on the resumption but Sallins pushed on with points from Eoghan O'Haire, Rory Gavin and Cian Grimes to lead 1-9 to 1-5 with 36 minutes gone.
O'Haire and Fergal MacKennedy reduced the gap but Sallins replied with a Kevin Foley goal.
Caragh hit three points in a row but it wasn't enough as Sallins held out to win on a final score line of Sallins 2-9 to 1-10.
