Following last night’s Emergency General Meeting at the Keadeen Hotel, a new Kildare LGFA Executive Committee has been elected. All but four positions have been fulfilled, Assistant Secretary, Public Relations Officer, Culture and Language Officer, and Chairperson of the County Development Committee.
The vacant positions are scheduled to be filled at the next County Board Meeting, which is due to be in late February. Kildare clubs have been asked to send in nominations for the vacant positions to Michelle Wyse, Secretary of Leinster LGFA, until further notice.
Following nominations from three clubs and his own, Leixlip’s Pat Travers was eventually elected unopposed as the new Kildare LGFA Chairperson. The new Chairperson was manager of the Kildare LGFA U16 team which won the All-Ireland ‘B’ Championship in 2022.
As stated would be the case earlier this week, the position of Vice Chair was elected unopposed on the night and that role will be occupied by Christine Flynn of Kildangan Nurney. Similarly, both Orla Murtagh for the position of Assistant Treasurer and Clare Farrelly for Assistant Registrar were elected unopposed.
Following five initial nominations, Cappagh’s Jim Rattigan was elected Treasurer unopposed.
Balyna’s Sinead McDonnell was elected for both the position of Secretary and for the position of Central Council Delegate.
Both Eadestown’s Rachel Tuohy and Monasterevan’s Anthony Conway were elected in the positions of Provincial Council Delegates.
Ellistown’s Eileen Furlong will be Chairperson of the County Fixtures Committee.
Action on the field has been nothing short of exceptional during this turbulent period and we wish the new Kildare LGFA Executive all the best in ensuring that things are more harmonious and prosperous moving forward off of it.
