Raheens with a goal in the 60 minute from Padddy Woodgate gave Raheens an unexpected win against St Laurence's in the Joe Mallon SFC clash at Manguard Park on Saturday.

Trailing throughout the entire game, the Caragh boys kept plugging away despite never looking like they would get the break-through but when it finally arrived, after a Jack Taaffe effort was partly blocked Woodgate picked up the lose ball to drill it low into the Larries defence.

Then to add icing to the cake a break-away goal, after Larries lost possession in their half, saw the ball worked to Colin Ryan and with Richard Redden out of his goal, the no. 2 fired to the empty net.

The opening half was a bit of a dour half with St Laurence's dominating against a Raheens side that lacked any penetration.
Chris Fenner opened for The Larries with Padraig Fogarty adding a second from open play. A fine move through the middle by

Jason McHugh gave the no. 17 a goal chance but his shot rose over for point no. 3 Dominating most of the play, Felix Lalor added a fourth on 12 minutes with Raheens yet to raise a flag of an hue.

Finally with the clock showing 19 minutes the men from Caragh got on the score sheet with Colm Power firing over having been set up by Colm Malone — 0-4 to 0-1.

Joe Hanamy added a point for The Larries and a few minutes later full forward Padraig Fogarty got his second of the game, a free, and his side's sixth.

As we reached half-time a foul on David Malone saw Paddy Woodgate convert to reduce the gap to four.
Paddy Woodgate made in-roads with a dazzling run but as he made his way through a maze of defenders an alert Brendan Cawley (referee) spotted a double hope and awarded a free out before the final whistle arrived with the score board reading: St Laurence's 0-6 Raheens 0-2.

Paddy Woodgate got the opener of the second half but points from Padraig Fogarty (f) and Chris Fenner had them three clear.
Gradually Caragh gained more possession and points from Colm Power and a lovely effort from Sean McLoughlin after a great cross-field pass to the no. 24.

Fogarty pushed the lead out to four; Paddy Woodgate had it back to three as we reached the mid-way point.
A black card for Kevin Eustace did nothing for The Larries cause; two Woodgate points left one between them but when Padraig Fogarty converted another free it looked it might be enough to see them over the line.

However as we reached the 60 minute that Woodgate goal had Raheens one ahead for the first time and when Colin Ryan found the empty net it was game over as Raheens recorded a most unlikely win on a final score line of Raheens 2-8 St Laurence's 0-10.
