Ballyteague GFC held their Gala Awards night at Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge on Saturday January 28. The Green and Gold colours of the club was plentiful in the ballroom.

A crowd of 350 were in attendance to celebrate a truly memorable 2022 for the club, which saw both adult teams achieve championship success. The first time this has been achieved in the club's history.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtably the medal presentations to the Kildare intermediate football champions and the Reserve E Championship winners.

Amongst the attendees was County Board Chairman Mick Gorman who addressed the gathering and com-
plimented Ballyteague on there fantastic achievements in 2022 and acknowledged the hard work and dedication needed more-so in rural clubs.

Mick also presented the players medals. With 54 players receiving medals and with 9 players receiving both. As with all rural clubs there are strong family links in Ballyteague, with 6 sets of brothers receiving medals.

Team Managers Mick Ennis and Derek Mooney along with their selectors and backroom teams were acknowledged and presented with awards for their participation in the club's successful year.

Special Achievement Award was presented to Jimmy Hyland by Club Chairman Leslie Thorpe in recognition of the Year he had in 2022. Jimmy was top tcorer for Kildare senior footballers and also in the Kildare IFC, man of the match in the County Final and his year was capped off by being named Kildare Intermediate Footballer of the Year.

2022 was just the sixth time in Ballyteague’s history that there main adult team won there championship, '62, '72, '73, '88,91 and now 2022.

A nice feature of the evening was having members of these teams present. A great night followed that went on until the early hours.
