SOLAS: Free Plant and Seed Swap Event & Prosecco Day
After a fun-filled (and reasonably dry) bank holiday weekend at SOLAS, the big event this week is the return of the ‘SOLAS Plant & Seed’ swap event. This is a truly green circular economy event and very much in keeping with what SOLAS is all about, promoting sustainability and community engagement.
Events @ SOLAS
Saturday: 10-2 pm Farmers Market - Indulge in the finest local farm produce and crafts at our weekly market including the ever-popular ‘Love Ireland Silver’ jewellery stall.
Sunday from 11am: This Sunday will feature a plant and seed swap event @ SOLAS.
11am: Plant Swap
Noon: Plant Doctor / clinic
12.30pm: Best in show
Keep in the Diary
Saturday 2nd September –12-2 pm in the Farmers Market area: 8 German Shepherd puppies in the market. Proud father Alpha (SOLAS’s official mascot) will be keeping an eye on the day.
Sunday 3rd September 11-4 pm: Chef Kali and his food truck will be visiting with his amazing selection of Syrian and Middle-Eastern food.
Food @ SOLAS
Prosecco international day is here: a match made in heaven... A perfect glass of chilled prosecco and a fresh fish dish to pair with, all from our local suppliers Grape & Bean and Al's fish, both from County Laois. All this is only available at SOLAS Food Court, open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
SOLAS – PLANTS
Our featured Plant of the week is our fantastic selection of Climbing roses, including: 'New Dawn' - ideal for light shade, 'Peach Melba' / 'Kiss me Kate' / 'Jasmina' - intense fragrance, and many more. They can be used on trellis, fences, walls, or even climbing on trees. Roses perform the best in sun or light shade and love heavy soil rich in organic matter. Our team of horticulturists is on hand with expert advice.
