Naas Roads Policing Unit recently carried out a speed enforcement operation on the L7041 Barretstown, Newbridge, Co Kildare following residents' complaints.

Gardai report that residents are struggling to safely exit their driveways, while speeding traffic is putting pedestrians, cyclists and other road users at unnecessary risk.

A number of motorists were detected speeding and were each issued a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice of €160 and three penalty points.

A garda spokesperson said: “Every driver caught speeding made a conscious decision to ignore the 60km/h speed limit.

“Your speed can change someone else's life forever. Slow down. Obey the speed limit. Protect your community.”
