The case was heard at Naas courthouse
A Kildare company has been fined €2,500 for failing to engage with the Workplace Relations Commission over the non-payment of wages to a woman working for it.
At the October 1 sitting of Naas District Court, Judge Desmond Zaidan fined the company, Cleanway Facilities Services Limited, Unit E, Block 1, Link Business Park, Kilcullen, for not complying with a Section 28 notice under the Workplace Relations Act.
There was no appearance by the company, the court was told.
Teresa Balfe, an officer with the WRC, said the company had failed to comply with the notice which the WRC had issued. It gave the company 42 days to pay wages owned to a Polish woman, amounting to €510. The woman had been working for the company for two months but had only been paid for one month.
Ms Balfe said there had been no contact from the company and as far she was aware it was still a going concern.
The woman told the court that she spoke to her immeditate superior about the non payment of wages but still did not receive the money.
The maximum fine under the act for this offence is €5,000. The company had a previous conviction, from last September, also for not engaging with the WRC.
Judge Zaidan fined Cleanway €2,500.
