Call for trucks to be banned from going through Kildare residential area

A call has been made for a ban on heavy goods vehicles driving through Castletown estate in Leixlip.

Cllr Nuala Killeen asked, at a Celbridge-Leixlip  Municipal District meeting, if Kildare County Council would confirm if it has plans to redirect HGVs “to not go through the Castletown estate.”

The councillor said this would improve pedestrian safety.

But, according to KCC, there currently is a 3.5 ton weight limit for the road through the area.
