The plans include the installation of speed-control ramps, pedestrian crossings, upgraded bus stops, pencil bollards and school-zone markings

A public consultation relating to a Safe Routes To School project for one County Kildare region is now live.

The project is aimed at improving road safety for pupils at St Conleth’s Infant School and Patrician Primary School in Newbridge.

The plans for the project include: upgraded bus stops, pencil bollards, speed-control ramps, pedestrian crossings and school-zone markings along Dublin Road and Chapel Lane.

One local representative, Social Democrats councillor Chris Pender, said that he would ‘encourage parents, staff, local residents and everyone who uses the area’ to review the proposals and have their say on the project.

It should be noted that submissions close at 5pm on Friday, August 28, 2026.

The plans for the project can be viewed here.
