Laois novelist will be promoting new book in Kildare

Laois novelist Dr Arthur Broomfield will be promoting his new novel, An Ireland of Snakes and Bollards on a tour of County Kildare over the coming weeks.
The controversial work has been compared to Beckett, Swift and Flann O’Brien’s humorous satire.
It’s been commended by author and broadcaster John McKenna, actress and novelist Jeananne Crowley and political journalist John Drennan.
The work is ‘outrageous and downright funny...The vitality of Broomfield’s writing imbues the Irish tradition of satire with the vigour of twenty first century humour.’
‘This will be my sixth tour of Kildare with my books. I’ve made many friends and look forward to meeting them again. I’ll be calling to all towns in the county,’ says the much-loved poet and novelist.
Broomfield is a poet and literary critic from Ballyfin.
He holds BA and MA degrees in English and History from National University of Ireland, Maynooth and a Ph.D in English Literature on the works of Maria Edgeworth from Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick.
