'No go zone'

It is unsafe for women to walk along a street in Newbridge.

That's according to a local independent councillor.

Cllr Tom McDonnell also told a Kildare County Council meeting that “drugs are everywhere“ in the town.

Cllr McDonnell said that the level of policing needs to be increased in the area.

He said people are very concerned and are raising their concerns.

He also said that there has been an increase in crime and it is unsafe for women to walk in Eyre Street, which he described as a “no-go zone.”
