A man in his 50s has passed away following a serious assault on St Patrick's day in Limerick.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the assault that occurred on Athlunkard Street on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

The man, who has been named locally as Liam Higgins, sustained serious head injuries during the incident and was pronounced deceased yesterday evening, Wednesday March 25, 2026, at University Hospital Limerick.
The office of the Coroner, and the State Pathologist have been notified.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out at University Hospital Limerick today.

Three adult males have been charged in relation to this investigation and have previously appeared before Court.
Investigations are ongoing.
