ALERT: Number of baby formula products recalled due to presence of food-poisoning toxin

A number of baby formula products have been recalled due to the presence of cereulide, a toxin that can cause food-poisoning.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has announced today that Danone is updating the recent product recall in Ireland.

A number of Aptamil and Cow&Gate baby formulas and follow-on formulas have been affected.

The products and batches being recalled in Ireland include the Aptamil 1, From Birth, First Infant Milk 800g with expiry dates of 05-07-2026, 14-07-2026, 24-07-2026, 03-08-2026, 03-09-2026, 31-10-2026, 11-11-2026, and 26-11-2026.

Aptamil 2, 6-12 months, follow-on milk 800g with expiry dates of 07-06-2026, 12-07-2026, 20-07-2026, 30-07-2026, 17-09-2026, 26-10-2026, 28-10-2026, 21-11-2026, 05-12-2026, and 20-12-2026 have been recalled. 

Aptamil Hungry, 1 From Birth, First Infant Milk 800g expiring on 31-07-2026, 16-11-2026, or 24-02-2027 have been recalled too. 

Cow & Gate Anti-Reflux From Birth 800g with the expiry dates of 01-08-2026 and 16-12-2026, as well as Cow & Gate Hungry First Infant Milk From Birth 800g with expiry dates of 05-07-2026 and 05-01-2027, have also been affected.

The only other product included in the recall is the Cow & Gate 1, First Infant Milk from Birth 800g.

The affected batches have expiry dates of 10-06-2026, 07-07-2026, 03-08-2026, 20-09-2026, 30-10-2026, 08-11-2026, 11-12-2026, and 05-01-2027.

"We would like to reassure everyone that the safety of infants and young children is of the utmost importance to us, and we are in close communication with the infant formula manufacturers and retailers to ensure they are taking all appropriate actions to ensure that any potentially unsafe products are recalled from consumers and no longer on the market," Greg Dempsey, Chief Executive of the FSAI, said.
