Seven items from Shein and Temu have been recalled by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission this week due to a number of safety concerns.
Those concerns include the risk of choking, strangualtion, and fire.
The first recall was announced on Tuesday, February 3rd and relates to a capybara plush toy sold by Yangzhou Qingteng Toys Co. Ltd on Shein.
The toy poses a choking and strangulation risk as the "fibrous stuffing" can be removed and could be ingested.

As well as this, the mask loop on the teddy's head could get caught around a child's neck causing strangulation.
The model numbers are SE2506302 / PB2510060249219 / sl25060321981221271. The batch number is BF-202410-001.The identification number on the website is sl25060321981221271.
There are roughly 64 of these toys throughout Ireland.

The second recalled item is another teddy, described as a birthday bear plush.
It is being sold by Yangzhou Ruironfang Toys Co. Ltd on Shein.

There are small parts on the bear that come off easily meaning they are a choking hazard for young children that might ingest them.
The product identifier is sl25051785766477974 and there are roughly 28 affected products across Ireland.

A donkey plush toy is the third recall of the week, which happened on Wednesday, February 4th.
The donkey is being sold by Luquan District Daige E-Commerce Firm on Shein.
The donkey's eyes become detached easily and are a choking hazard for children.

The brand and barcode are unknown but the product ID is PB2509290554545 and the product reference number is sl2410079140161392.
Approximately 226 of these donkey toys are in Ireland.

The fourth product recall relates to a pirate's costume being sold by DASH RAINBOW on Temu.
The risk reported to the CCPC is entrapment as cords that are tied at the back of the costume could become trapped in rotary playground equipment and cause injuries.
The type/number of models is 7185448267 and the batch number is MXE01.
The identification number, which is accessible on the package, is 601102693958226.
There are appoximately 113 of these costumes in Ireland.

Temu had another recall this week, with a children's musical phone next on the list.
It is being sold by Hey J and has a risk of choking associated with it.
The toy has small parts that can easily detach if a child was to put them in their mouth.

The type/number of models is 8901-B, the batch number is 250120M, and the identification number is 18473413038.
There are around 194 of these phones across the country.

A duck plush toy being sold by Shantou Baida Chuang Trading Co., Ltd has been recalled as well.
This is because it presents a risk of choking and suffocation due to the eyes of the duck becoming detached easily.
The plastic bag that the prodcut comes in is less than the minimum thickness level required and therefore poses a suffocation risk.
The brand of the duck is unknown but the product ID is PB251011036183.
The product reference number is sl25051171377322124 and the model number is 202504A.
24 of the affected ducks have been purchased in Ireland.

The most recent recall relates to string lighting being sold on Shein by Yiwu Huangjing Lighting Co., Ltd.
The lights are not protected against moisture and therefore pose a fire risk.

Water can get into the product easily, which has the potential to cause an electric shock or overheating.
The model number is SL-300L and the product ID is sh2501051573412992.
Roughly of these light sets have been bought in Ireland.
