People reveal the Irish celebrity they'd most like to share Christmas dinner with

Christmas FM Survey 2025 has revealed some very interesting data on Irish public opinion ahead of the Christmas period, including who people would like to share their Christmas dinner with.

Firstly, the report has shared that there has been a huge jump in the survey from Christmas 2024 data of people cutting back on costs because of the cost-of-living crisis.

In 2024, over 51% of people said they would cut back on spending because of the cost-of-living. This year, in 2025, that figure has jumped to over 63%.

Over six in ten people in Ireland will be spending less and budgeting this Christmas amid cost of living crisis, according to the survey,

Six in ten also said that they will actively try to be more sustainable and environmentally conscious over the festive season.

The Cpl Christmas FM Survey 2025 also revealed that Irish people find their partner the most difficult person to buy a Christmas present for, with three in ten (30%) struggling to find the perfect gift. This was followed by parents (25%) and children (12%). Six in ten (60%) say they will also actively try to be environmentally conscious where possible over the festive season.

The survey also revealed that half of Irish people say they feel somewhat connected to their local community during Christmas with just over one in five (22%) feeling very connected and attending local events.

The survey has revealed the top three Irish celebrities people would like to share their Christmas dinner with, with Former president Micheal D. Higgins being the top Irish celebrity chosen.

This was followed by actor Colin Farrell and comedy duo The Two Johnnies.

Fairytale of New York has been named Ireland’s favourite Christmas song for the third year running with four in ten saying it sets the festive mood.

When it comes to Christmas Day, close to two thirds (66%) would welcome a white Christmas. Just over one quarter (27%) say Christmas movie marathons are their favourite new Christmas tradition, followed by matching pyjamas (23%) and donating to charity or volunteering (22%).

Further interesting insights from the Cpl Christmas FM Survey 2025 includes:

  • Over one third (34%) hang a mix of tinsel, baubles, fairly lights and homemade decorations from children on the tree
  • Over half (56%) start decorating for Christmas in early December
  • Over a third (36%) say leftover sandwiches are the ultimate Christmas comfort food
  • More than half (53%) say it officially feels like Christmas once Christmas FM starts broadcasting
