‘Do not eat’ warning issued as kids’ sweets product withdrawn from stores across Ireland

An alert has been issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) for Strong branded mini jelly cups due to the possible choking risk they pose to consumers.

The Strong branded mini jelly cup sweets are being recalled as they may cause a choking risk due to the presence of certain unauthorised gel-forming additives.

In the public notice, the FSAI warned that "consumers are advised not to eat the implicated sweets", due to the choking risk reported.

It has also been advised by the FSAI that milk is not emphasised in the ingredient list of these Strong branded jelly cups.

This may make the batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of milk and therefore, these consumers should not eat the implicated batches. The affected batches are being recalled.

All batches and best before dates of the Strong branded mini jelly cups in the pack size 360 grams are subject to both recall notices.

Retailers are requested to remove the implicated product from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.

Wholesalers/distributors are requested to contact their affected customers and recall the implicated product and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retailer customers.
