'A beautiful soul' - Community heartbroken over untimely passing of beloved Leitrim woman

A Leitrim community is in mourning following the heartbreaking death of beloved wife, daughter and sister, Maeve Haslette
(née Kerrigan), who has been described as a beautiful soul and an absolute lady.

Maeve, who was married to former Leitrim GAA player Ronan Haslette, passed away peacefully at the Intensive Care Unit, Sligo University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Monday.

Maeve, late of Towneymoyle, Manorhamilton, will be deeply missed by her husband Ronan, her Dad Seamus, brothers Shane, Pauric and James, sisters in law Lynda and Julianna, nephews and nieces Seamie, Ryan, Shay, Conor, James, Ivannia and Ophelia, her aunts, uncles and all the wider Dolan and Kerrigan families plus all Maeve's many heartbroken friends, colleagues and neighbours. Predeceased by her mother Mary, sister Ann and her cousin Rachel.

Hundreds of heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Maeve, including Leitrim GAA who posted a touching tribute on their social media page,

"Leitrim GAA extends our deepest sympathies to Maeve’s husband Ronan, her father Seamus, brothers Shane, Pauric and James, and the extended Kerrigan, Haslette and Dolan families on the sad passing of Maeve Haslette (née Kerrigan), Towneymoyle, Manorhamilton.

"Ronan is a former Leitrim star and has been a long-time supporter and fundraiser for Leitrim GAA, while the Kerrigan family’s Kerrigan Group are valued sponsors of our Minor team.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis."

Other messages left on RIP.ie paid moving tributes to Maeve and her grief-stricken family, with one mourner writing,

"Our heartfelt sympathy to Ronan, Seamus, Shane, Pauric, James & extended Kerrigan, Haslette & Dolan families on the untimely passing of Maeve. She was absolute lady. You are all in our thoughts & prayers at this very sad time. May Maeve's gentle soul rest in peace x."

Another wrote,

"Our deepest sympathy to Ronan, Seamus, Shane, Pauric, James, and to the extended Haslette and Kerrigan families on the passing of Maeve. She was a truly kind and beautiful teacher. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. May Maeve rest peacefully."

While another wrote,

"Deepest sympathy to the Haslette, Kerrigan and Dolan Families on the sad passing of Maeve. May her gentle soul rest in peace in the arms of her beloved Mother and sister in heaven."

Funeral Arrangements

Maeve will repose at Our Lady's Hospital Chapel, Manorhamilton (F91 XO12) this evening Wednesday November 26, from 3pm to 8pm.

Removal on Thursday to St Osnat's Church, Glencar (F91VK85) to arrive for 1pm Requiem Mass with burial afterwards in Diffreen Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, to the Intensive Care Unit, Sligo University Hospital.

As a mark of respect Kerrigan Quarries, Óstaw8 Restaurant, Costcutters, Thornton's Butchers and Merenda and Manorhub will all be closed on Thursday 27th November.
