ALERT: Hundreds of products recalled from popular online stores amid serious health risks

Several products from popular online platforms Shein and Temu have been recalled across Ireland amid serious health risks to children, including choking and damage to their reproductive systems.

Hundreds of these products have been sold in Ireland, and now the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission have issued the recall to alert customers to stop using these products immediately.

From Temu, WHITECRANE is carrying out a recall of Button Batteries.

The product presents a chemical and choking risk. The packaging is not childproof as the button batteries are accessible to children. A child could put the batteries in their mouth, which could cause choking. The batteries could also harm the digestive tract if they are swallowed.

The type/number of model is CR2032. The bar code on the inner packaging is 6972315922251 and the bar code on the outer packaging is 3295299304.

There are approximately 19 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do:

Customers should stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.

Temu has contacted affected consumers regarding this recall on behalf of the seller, and reimbursements have been issued to those impacted.

Shein is carrying out a recall of a toy slime product sold on SHEIN Marketplace by a third-party seller (Yunhe County Zhengda Huanyuan Wood-Plastic Composite Co., Ltd.).

The product presents a chemical risk. The migration of boron from the toy slime is too high. Ingestion or contact with an excessive quantity of boron may harm the health of children by damaging the reproductive system.

The full name of the product is ‘1Pc 70ml/150ml Glow In The Dark Slime Squishies Putty Set, Galaxy Slime Non-Sticky & Super Soft Crystal Clay, Cloud Slime For DIY Stress Relief Toy Party Favors’. The SHEIN identifier for the product is SKU: sl25060879392921981.

There are approximately 2 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do:

If you purchased one of these products, please stop use immediately, discard the product, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Also from Shein, a recall is being carried out for an LED Light-Up Ballpoint Pen sold by a third-party seller (Yiwu Jushi Wushuang E-commerce Co., Ltd.) on SHEIN marketplace.

The product presents a chemical and choking risk. The battery compartment can be easily opened without use of any tools and the button cell batteries inside are easily accessible. Children might put them in their mouth and swallow them, causing damage to their gastrointestinal tract.

There are approximately 119 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do:

If you purchased one of these products, please stop use immediately, discard the product, and keep it out of the reach of children.
