Lavender Cottage in Leitrim, Corriga has gone up for the astonishingly low price of €50,000.
The property is partially renovated, with a new corrugated roof, a water connection and a septic tank on site.
A savvy buyer will see that there is much to be desired in the condition of the house’s walls.
Auctioneer Joe Brady said this cottage is a prime candidate for the Vacant Property Refurbishment Scheme and that “there are things that aren’t visually apparent” done to the property which add value to the listing.
“Put another €100,000 into the house, and you’ll have a lovely home for €150,000”, said the seller.

Brady estimates that the house was built in the 1950s, and said that there has been a large interest in the property since it has gone on the market.
He estimates that the property could sell for up to €60,000.
The large 1.5 acre site is located in a “rural and tranquil setting”, close to the Cavan border and Carrick-on-Shannon.
The house is a two kilometre walk from the village of Aughavas, which is home to a local pub, church, sports ground and national school.
The listing on Daft.ie reads: “The elevated site gives excellent views of Sliabh an Iarainn and the surrounding countryside."
“Accommodation in brief comprises entrance hallway, living area, three potential bedrooms and potential for bathroom.”
REA Brady auctioneers considers the run-down house to be a “gem”.
