'RIP Blessing'- Three-month-old kitten dies from injuries after being found in a ditch

Charity launches heartfelt plea for funds to offset fees to try and save 'Blessing' who had a foster owner lined up for her but sadly did not make it through surgery

'RIP Blessing'- Three-month-old kitten dies from injuries after being found in a ditch

Blessing later died from her injuries after being found dead in a ditch in Limerick

A tiny three-month-old kitten has died from her injuries after being found injured in a ditch in Limerick.

Little Blessing, a beautiful black-and-white cat, was discovered in Limerick, in a ditch, with difficulty walking.

She was taken to a vet, with X-rays showing she had a double hip fracture, which was most likely caused by her being hit by a car.

The Cat and Dog Protection Association of Ireland (CDPA), an animal charity dedicated to reducing the suffering of cats and dogs in Ireland, agreed to pay for salvage surgery costing €1,200, and had lined Blessing up with a new owner.

Despite Blessing's small size and light weight making her an ideal candidate for the treatment, tragically the courageous kitty stopped breathing during the surgery.

CPR was immediately commenced, but heartbreakingly, the beautiful cat passed away.

Now the charity has made a "reluctant plea for help" with a "heavy heart" to cover Blessing's medical bill.

"The shock of losing such a vibrant, happy and adorable kitten has left us devastated. Her loss has hit her fosterer hard, and we are all so very sad," the charity wrote on a GoFundMe page it has set up seeking donations.
"We always knew we’d need to do a fundraiser but we never imagined it would be this. Paying off this vet bill means that we chance on a future cat in need," they added.
"Rest in Peace Blessing – we loved you and you will live on in our hearts forever as well as those who read your story," the charity concluded.
