This is why I adopted Teddy the Cavachon from Dogs Trust
I recently adopted a one-year-old Cavachon named Teddy from Dogs Trust, and it's the best decision I ever made.
I've always had a dog in my house since I was born so when our previous dog died suddenly from an illness, I knew I had to do something I've always wanted to do.
I always wanted to rescue a dog. There's something about knowing your dog has come from unfortunate circumstances and knowing you're doing a good thing that makes it all so much more special.
With the likes of puppy farms and the high numbers of dogs in shelters around the country, I knew I just had to rescue and that Dogs Trust would have the dog I was looking for.
Teddy was found by Dogs Trust as a puppy and since being born he never had a stable home. Before I adopted him he was with a foster family who treated him very well but couldn't take care of him long-term.
Teddy is one of the friendliest dogs I've ever met. Straight away he quickly became attached to me and hasn't left my sight.
The adoption process was so easy. I started by emailing Dogs Trust and told them what I was looking for.
The rehoming staff member organised a phone call with me and told me all about Teddy. When she sent me photos of him I fell in love with him straight away.
A week later, Dogs Trust dropped Teddy straight to my door.

The staff member he came with brought a bag of toys from his previous foster owner as well as a collar, lead, harness and a bag of dog food.
She was very friendly and helpful and went through everything we needed to know to make sure Teddy could adjust to his new home comfortably.
I was told Teddy loves baby food with his dog nuts believe it or not, as he came with a pouch of it from his previous owner!
It's safe to say I'm dealing with one spoiled pup!
For anyone thinking about adopting a rescue dog, my advice would be to choose the dog carefully depending on your circumstances because every dog is different.
I would say it's definitely worth doing, and with a fee of only €270, it's so much cheaper than buying a dog elsewhere.
