Lonely dog finally finds home after years in Irish dog shelter
PAWS Animal Rescue Ireland has recently shared this heartwarming story of 'the loneliest dog in Ireland' who is now full of smiles and happiness after finding his forever home.
"We are over the moon to share that Hank, our longest resident at PAWS, has finally found the loving home he so deeply deserved," the animal shelter based in Tipperary said in a recent Facebook post.
"Hank arrived at PAWS in early 2021 and spent over four years watching hundreds of other dogs come and go. Despite his gentle heart, Hank was often overlooked—mainly due to his size and appearance," the shelter added.
Hank loves playing with his favourite spiky ball and brought joy and laughter to everyone who met him.
Hopes of him finding a home began to fade, the shelter said, until last month when a woman named Cheryl visited PAWS to drop off donations and happened to spot Hank.
"Something about him stayed with her. Just two weeks later, she and her husband reached out to adopt him. And now, after 1,238 day in kennels… Hank is home," the shelter said.

"He now has space to roam, long walks, endless cuddles—and most importantly, a family who sees just how special he is.
“There’s someone out there for every dog, and a dog for every person. They just have to find each other," the shelter added.

One Facebook user commented under the post, which has received a lot of attention from social media users, "It brought a tear to my eyes reading about Hank, I'm so delighted for him and sincere thanks to his adoptors, here's wishing you all a great life together."
Another person said, "Look at that smile!".
