Search of Meath house as part of Elizabeth Clarke murder investigation ends

The search of a house in Co Meath as part of an investigation into the murder of a mother-of-two who went missing more than 10 years ago has ended.

Elizabeth Clarke, who lived in Navan, Co Meath, has not been seen since 2013.

It was announced on Friday that the case had been upgraded to a murder investigation and a search began at a house in Navan.

It continued over the weekend in cold and wet conditions.

Gardai said on Monday that the search at the house had concluded, the results of which were not being released for operational purposes.

The family have been informed of the developments, gardai said.

Ms Clarke was 24 at the time of her disappearance.

She had previously lived in Portrane and Bettystown, Co Meath, with her family, who officially reported her missing in January 2015.

“An Garda Siochana continue to appeal to any person or persons with information in relation to the disappearance and murder of Elizabeth Clarke to please come forward to the investigation team.

“Do not assume that An Garda Siochana either know that information and/or that it has limited value. Let the investigation team make that assessment.

“Given the timeframe of this investigation, gardai are reminding the public that if they have any information in relation to the disappearance and murder of Elizabeth, and for some reason held back on information they may have had, to come forward now.

“An Garda Siochana wish to reassure them that they will be treated sensitively.”
