A fundraising drive has been set up to support the family of a Donegal man tragically killed in Australia.

Barry Breslin from Straleel, Kilcar, suffered serious head injuries on Thursday, October 3, when a piece of equipment reportedly fell and was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital, where he died a short time later. A GoFundMe fundraiser for the 35-year-old labourer has been established.

“It is with great sadness that we are setting up this GoFundMe to support the family of Barry Breslin known to everyone as Duke, to relieve the financial burden on his family,” reads the Barry 'Duke' Breslin initiative.

“Duke was born and raised in the parish of Kilcar in County Donegal. He moved to Perth, Western Australia in 2011, over the years he has touched the hearts of many. He was always up for a laugh whether it be greasing the door handles of a digger, giving yoghurt as sunscreen or being there to celebrate with his family and friends.

“Duke was one in a million. He was a family man at heart and a loyal friend to many around him, he will be sadly missed but not forgotten.

“Thank you all for taking the time to read this and for any donation little or big to help this family out. If you could also share this with as many friends and family members as possible it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks from Melissa, Tommy and the Breslin Family.”
