Consumers across Ireland have been warned after batches of a product from a popular fast food chain were found to have traces of a very serious allergen.

Domino's Pizza and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued the warning after finding possible traces of peanut in specific batches of their Garlic & Herb and Mustard & Honey dips.

The above batches of Domino's Garlic & Herb dip and Domino's Honey & Mustard dip may contain peanuts that are not declared in the list of ingredients. This may make the affected batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of peanuts.

The popular pizza chain which has nearly 100 premises across Ireland urged customers to throw the affected batches away, following reports that consumers complained of an "itchy mouth" after eating the product.

A spokesperson the Domino's said,

"At the weekend, we discovered that some batches of Domino's Pizza Garlic & Herb and Honey & Mustard dips contained traces of peanut which could pose a risk for people with peanut allergies.

"We have withdrawn all these dips from sale, and ask any customers who have people in their household with peanut allergies not to consume and instead dispose of any of these dips that they have at home.

"Domino's takes food safety very seriously and we are working urgently with our supplier to understand how this happened and ensure it doesn't happen again.

"There will be disruption to the supply of dips in the coming days while we wait for new supplies to arrive and appreciate customers' understanding during this time."

Batches of Aldi's own Carlos Takeaway Garlic & Herb dip are also being recalled due to the possible presence of peanuts, which are not declared in the list of ingredients.

The affected batches include Domino's Garlic & Herb dip; pack size 100g and 25g, and Domino's Honey & Mustard dip; pack size: 25g.

Affected batches were provided up until Sunday September 15, 2024.
