A man is being questioned along with a teenage girl following a significant drugs seizure in Limerick earlier this week.
Gardaí have confirmed they arrested the pair after cocaine estimated to be worth €140,000 was seized during a search of a vehicle on Wednesday evening.
"The suspected cocaine was seized when gardaí stopped a vehicle on the southside of the city. Large packages containing the cocaine was seized following a search of the vehicle," said a spokesperson this Thursday morning.
The spokesperson, who did not confirm the exact location of the seizure, added that the seized drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland to undergo further analysis.
"A man, aged in his 40s and a woman, aged in her teens, have been arrested in connection with this seizure and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a garda station in the Southern Region," they stated.
Subject to court orders, both can be detained without charge for up to 72 hours.
Investigations into the seizure are ongoing.
