Gardaí have issued a warning to people heading to beaches and other Irish beauty spots this weekend with good weather expected for the June Bank Holiday.

Gardaí in Wicklow led the warning over parking as they posted a message to followers on social media.

A statement read: "In advance of the June Bank Holiday weekend we ask all visitors to Brittas Bay, Glendalough and indeed any of our scenic/tourist areas in Co. Wicklow to please park responsibly.

"Any vehicles found parked on double yellow lines or on a grass verge resulting in the obstruction of emergency vehicles or denying local residents access to their property will be towed away and fines will be issued.

"We ask all visitors to park in designated parking area's and follow local instructions."

The warning is being echoed by other Garda divisions across the country in a bid to stamp out inconsiderate and illegal parking.
