Gardai make new appeal in Dublin shooting probe

A new appeal has been made by gardai as part of a probe into the murder of a man in Dublin.

The victim, named locally as Josh Itseli and aged in his early 20s, died in a shooting in the Knocknarea Road in Drimnagh in the early hours of May 6.

Gardai said they are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

A statement said: “In particular gardai are looking to speak with the drivers of two vehicles that were in the Drimnagh area on the night who may have information relevant to this investigation.

“A dark-coloured saloon taxi which drove on Knocknarea Road, towards the junction with Mourne Road in Drimnagh, between 12am and 12.10am.

“A red-coloured saloon taxi which drove on Sperrin Road, between the junctions with Knocknarea Road and Mourne Road in Drimnagh, between 12am and 12.10am.

“The driver of this taxi was a male, and may have been dropping off or collecting a fare at Sperrin Road at the time.”

The statement said gardai are also continuing to appeal for information in relation to a black Talaria Sting electric motorbike which is understood to have been used in connection with this incident.

It continued: “The electric motorbike was observed in the vicinity of Dolphin Road, Crumlin Road and Davitt Road on Sunday night, 5th May 2024 and into the early hours of Monday morning, 6th May 2024.

“Garda are appealing to anyone who may have observed the black Talaria Sting electric motorbike in the vicinity of Dolphin Road in recent days.

“The motorbike has been seized by investigating gardai, who are also seeking the rightful owner of the vehicle.

“Gardai are also appealing to any taxi drivers, public service vehicle (PSV) drivers and any motorists who observed pedestrians, or who may have been approached by pedestrians, on Davitt Road in the early hours of Monday morning, 6th May 2024.”

Gardai said any information received will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
