Tributes paid to dad killed in crash days after returning from GAA club trip

Tributes have poured in for Connor McNeill, who was killed in a crash days after coming home from a trip with his GAA club.

Connor McNeill died, aged 41, died following a crash which occurred in Antrim on Tuesday.

Since the tragic news broke out, tributes have been pouring in for Connor, who has been described as an "absolute gentleman".

"Still trying to process the devastating news... My heart goes out to the family and teammates of my dear neighbour and friend, Connor McNeill. We had an amazing time together just a few days ago, laughing and enjoying each other's company. Please join me in sending love, prayers, and strength to all those who loved him. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing to us all," paid one of his friend in tribute.

Days before his death, Connor was on a trip with his GAA club, Shane Uí Néill Gleann Arma.

The club paid tribute to the late Connor, who wore their jersey with "immense pride".

"All at Shane Uí Néill Gleann Arma are deeply saddened at the tragic death of Connor McNeill. Connor was a dedicated member of our Club, a true gael and a great friend. He undertook many roles within our Club - a player, coach, mentor and senior manager, as well as referee.

"An absolute gentleman who played for Shane Uí Néill since his early childhood and served our Club with distinction, and wore our Club jersey with immense pride. Connor’s sad passing will be a huge loss to his family, friends, Club and community. We will treasure all the memories for years to come. To his wife Emma, their children Lucy and Ollie, and all of the McNeill family circle we extend our deepest sympathies at this very sad time. Mary Queen of the Gael pray for him," they paid in tribute.

The single vehicle crash occurred on Carnlough Road, Broughshane at around 3.30pm. His two children were also in the car, and were taken to the hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.
