The foreman of the jury for Donald Trump’s hush money trial is originally from Ireland.
The first seven jurors for the criminal trial were chosen yesterday, after lawyers from both sides of the case grilled potential members of the jury about their social media, political views and personal lives to decide whether they could be impartial enough to make a judgement of the former US president
Although little information on the jury is available, the New York Times reported that the unnamed individual enjoys doing “anything outdoorsy” and watches a balance of both MSNBC and Fox News.
The unnamed Irish emigrant, as well as an oncology nurse, a corporate lawyer and five others have formed part of the selection process to choose a panel of 12 members who can be deemed impartial to Donald Trump.
The judge in charge of the major court case warned lawyers yesterday that he would not tolerate any efforts to intimidate prospective jurors after saying Trump, the Republican candidate for president in November’s election, was audibly muttering while one of the possible members of the panel was questioned.
Trump faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to adult film actor Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election. Ms Daniels says she had a sexual encounter with Trump about a decade beforehand.
