Passenger dies in two-car crash

A woman in her 30s has died in a two car-crash in Co Tipperary.

Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of the collision on the N24 at Kilsheelan at around 10pm on Friday.

A passenger in one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was taken to Waterford University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The male driver, who is aged in his 40s, was taken to the same hospital for treatment for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The driver and a passenger of the second car, both males aged in their late teens, were also treated in Waterford University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries

A female passenger of the second car, also aged in her late teens, was taken to Tipperary University Hospital for treatment for injuries that were also believed to be non-life-threatening

No other injuries were reported.

The road remained closed on Saturday morning and local traffic diversions are in place.

The scene was preserved pending examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, and who were travelling in the area of the N24 at Kilsheelan between 9.30pm and 10.10pm are asked to make the footage available to gardai.
